In this public engagement performance project in pandemic times for the community of Luddington, Michigan, Carron decided to invite the community to write poetry about the other gender inspired by Burns Night celebrations. A woman was invited to write a poem for the men in her life, a man was asked to write a poem about the women in his life and a trans-gendered person was asked to write about the straight people in their life. The tradition of writing poetry for other genders was inspired by the Scottish Burns Night tradition and the poems become a reflection of our moment in time. This invitation coincided with the storming of the U.S. Capital Building so there was a lot to respond to! Barbara Forgue, Sean Henne and Duff Norris volunteered to participate in the project and were woven into the aesthetic of the performance through Carron’s creative digital composites.

Carron also composed a poem in auld Scots and each stanza is written in the form of a haiku. Five objects were made for this performance that can be viewed here. The performance objects became functional in their purpose for the performance. The audience in the live stream were invited to send their address to Carron and each person was gifted a hand-made print with a verse of the auld Scots poem hand-stitched.
