Flow, embody • in site

In collaboration with the Out of Site community of artists, Carron convened the online public performance art symposium from April 22 to May 9, 2021. Flow 2022 is in full production and registration will go live on May 1, 2022.

For the third annual symposium of Flow • embody in site we developed in-person workshops in Chicago and Rotterdam along with the online program of a daily lecture and online workshops with Paul Couillard, Isabel Leon and Kineret Haya Max.

The Flow symposium includes practice-based workshops with public performance art practitioners, performative lectures and artist presentations and a finale weekend with live public performance in partnership with Experimental Sound Studio. We are delighted to form a partnership with Intellect Books for a second year offering symposium participants a 30% discount on the live art monograph catalog. In 2021 we highlighted the new publication Responding to Site, The Performance Work of Marilyn Arsem by Jennie Klein & Natalie Loveless published by Intellect Books and in 2022 we provided a space to discuss the new publication Ash She He, The Actional Poetics of Alastair MacLennan, 1971 - 2020 edited by Sandra Johnston, Cherie Driver and Paula Blair. INTERCITY

This project was co-curated with ieke Trinks and we developed a partnership with WORM Rotterdam to realize the project. ieke & I developed the project over two years in conversation with Charlien Adriaennsens. We invited four artists from Chicago, U.S. to collaborate with four artists from Rotterdam, Netherlands. Each artist collaborative created a project sharing the live experience simultaneously in each location.

Out of Site

Carron Little co-founded Out of Site (OoS) in 2011 and has been the organizer of the public performance art festival since. This includes an annual program of public performance art, screenings, and symposia. In March 2020 she reached out to OoS alum artists to see if they were interested in live streaming performance art. She created an organizational partnership with Experimental Sound Studio who invited OoS to be a guest curator in 2021 & 2022.

Out of Site has expanded into an international network and platform for sharing live public performance art. We have expanded our year round programming to include the eight week Spring and Fall Artist Focus program where we are in a reflective dialogue with artists about their public performance practice.
