Writing Policy with Artists in Mind

Murals and Sculptures

Since 2010 Carron was invited to sit on the local public arts funding committee in her neighborhood in Chicago. In the early years it was about devising a bi-annual public art plan for the neighborhood and advocating for artist stipends. More recently she has been advocating for grants to be administered to artists during the pandemic. In 2014 she was invited to write a consultation paper for the City of Chicago to improve diversity.

Lynn Basa: Home

In 2015 the Committee funded two public art projects the most successful of which is by Lynn Basa and stands on the corner of Wood | Wolcott intersection. This piece is symbolic of the prairie home and domesticity. Thanks to Sam Marts and local commisioners the sculpture is also surrounded by native prairie plants.

Active on Jury Panels

Carron sat on the New Performing Forms jury panel for the Illinois Arts Council in 2019 and juries Chicago Sculpture on a bi-annual basis. She invites people jury Out of Site annually. In 2022 the jury panel will be Dimple B Shah (India), Martine Viale (France), and Beau Coleman (Canada).
