A swarm of flies cloud the sky to consume their fate/ I weave in a trance around the trees to the lyrical music evaporating the sound of death/ I slip out in a white jumpsuit landing gently in a sea of people all carpeted as clones….

City Alive with Dreams was created by Carron Little (queen of luxuria)
City Alive With Dreams began in 2014 and evolved out of the Dream Minds project. The initial seed of engagement was planted at an interactive performance in 2010 at This Is Not A Studio where I built a queen of luxuria grotto in the garden and interviewed people on the spot and wrote poetry for them. The response from the participants who were interviewed was inspiring and one person said ‘You are an Angel’, to other participants placing their poems above their beds to inspire them every morning as they awoke. The Queen of Luxuria was then invited to do a durational performance at Jackson Junge Gallery in October 2011 where she invited public walking down the street to be interviewed. In 2012 I decided to embark on the year long project Dream Minds committed to interviewing one person every week for a year.
In 2014 queen of luxuria was artist in residence with DCASE, Chicago Department for Cultural Affairs and Special Events for an In The Works residency to develop the project. She worked with the Dream Minds participants to manifest their dreams into interactive public performance throughout Chicago. While artist in residence at Ragdale she began to correlate the collective archetypes creating participatory performance pieces. She worked with the choir Richard Blakeney, Christian Cruz, Dan Godston, Lisa Kortschak, Graham Nelson, Tanner Spears, Tricia Van Eck and Sara Zalek to develop choral work from 11 pieces of the Dream Minds poetry and devised two public performances that happened at The Claudia Cassidy Theater and Hyde Park Art Center in June. She then worked with Jessica Kearney, Natalia Nicholson, Alana Parekh, Nora Sharp, Olive Stefanski, Amy Sinclair and Emberly Sinclair to create various public performances that happened around Chicago. Above is the performance created for the Chicago Cultural Center on August 17, 2014.
